So what so special about Hilltop, that would demand I ride the additional distance?
not being rude, but have you read any of the posts on this thread because its pretty obvious to me why people are going to Hilltop :thumb2

BTW, what exactly is your local shop offering and how much is it going to cost?

Ebbo, no not every post but many.... I get the great service and he's a nice chap, makes good coffee etc, etc and everyones bike seems to be better after he's done his thing.... But is it because he is the only one with the software and ability to read and remap the ECU?

Haven't called local place yet, but will do so to find out what's what tomorrow.

Word of mouth is the best advertising you can get.

Sorry. I'm on the phone.

This is true :thumb

I asked for a decent carpet fitter near Swaffham and was told by repeated people I'd only find one near Diss .... :nenau

I aso have a dyno tuner about 15 miles away but he mostly does Japanese bikes. But bearing in mind, the cost of any remap is the labour and dyno time, not the journey to get there & back, I will go with Hilltop. They have a lot of experience with BMWs so will be quick and efficient. They are known to produce good results and have a reputation to maintain. So they have a lot to lose by doing a poor job.

The local guy isnt in the BMW market so if his remap is nothing special it wont seriously affect his business. I'm not saying this makes him rubbish but if you want any job done properly make sure the vendor has a reason to do it right rather than just the money.

So, sorry local guy, I will be making the 90 mile trip. Do it once, etc.

Plus you'll want a decent run back home afterwards I can assure you - the 90 miles will disappear very quickly :thumb

Hilltop

Everything about Hilltop sounds brilliant except its location. For me at least. Is there anywhere reputable in Scotland that offers similar services?

As far as i am aware no one else has the ammount of money invested in re mapping BMWs that Hilltop have and i believe to get the set up and the maps etc is well into the hundreds of thousands not to mention the time in years to achieve this. (talk to Geoff on the phone )
I have heard of another place that basically drill a small hole in the ECU and put an extra 5 amps into it and they call that a re map !!

you pays your money and all that
i travelled 110 mile to hilltop and it was worth every mile and every penny !

Cost

What does Geoff generally charge for a remap of a 2010 GSA, anyone have a ball park figure?

Thimnk its £360 with a £10 discount for UKGSERs and a reduction to £330 if you get up a group of 4 or 5.

Hello my friends.. I was read all topic and i try to reprogram one BMW R1200RT 2007.
The final results are very good as you see at the dyno table.. :

After 3-4 rempas and fine tuning, Max power is 107,5 Hp at 7.700 rpn.

Thanks for looking.. :beerjug:

pleased!

Before
88hp 70 ft/lb

After
110hp. 83 ft/lb

I can feel the extra power. :D
It's fuelling far better. Low revs are far cleaner and far smoother. More grunt all round and I was surprised how much smoother the engine felt overall. No more midrange flat spot that you really notice 2-up with bags.

Looking forward to hitting the trails as low revs surging can be a pain without a low 1st gear.

The big beast has more pep!

I've only had the twin cam for 7 months but have done 11000 miles so feel I'm a fair test pilot. Seriously good mod for far less than some numpties spend on touratwit farkles.

Yep! £360 with a £10 discount for GSers is correct but....

.....if you can get a few at least 4 of you together you can get a further discount of around £20 making the total cost £330 which is what I paid along with the other members of our block booking party. :beerjug:

Remap

I'm now a few weeks on from my remap & obviously got used to it. Setting aside all the figurework. The engine just seems so free.

Test rode an unmapped 07 1200GS (low mileage/ nice condition) with a mate this week & the difference is obvious. It went well but there was a hesitancy that mine no longer has.

In greece the summer is to hot, so the remaping of 1200Gs,Rt it is MUST for lower engine temperature..

I must add to the topic for the RT by the 107.5 Hp, the final speed from 205-210 km/h , now is 225 Km per Hour by consuming 42mpg at max rpn and 52 mpg at low and middle rpn..
Thanks a lot, greetings from lovely greece :beerjug:
