I am looking to reduce the weight on my 1150. Would anyone know what the weight of the Catalytic converter is and would it be OK to replace it with Touratechs y-piece front pipe and leave the original silencer in place.
Hi,
I have an 1150GS and went down the road of removing the CAT and replacing it with a REMUS Y Piece. The replacement was quiet simple. But the result not so. My bike suffered with starting issues, poor uneven running and was noisier. I replaced the CAT- not out of preference but to keep the bike running as it should. How much weight are we talking about ? Are you going to save on MPG ? I think not. I sold my REMUS piece and fortunatly got a decent price. I was glad to have a smooth, quiet bike back. Think carefully before replacement-you may have the same problems as I had.

Hi Everyone, Thanks replies. My main consideration is to save weight. My reasons for this are we travel two up, fully loaded ie camping equipment etc. I weigh in at 60 kilos, so any weight i can save makes life a lot easier. I am not concerned with MPG or performance. Always glad to here and take on boared peoples comments.![]()

Away and have a shite before you both set off. Far cheaper and a bigger weight loss than fitting a Y peice.
