Hi
I am going to remove the swing arm on my 1200GS (TC date 2012).
The Haynes manual states to use a slide hammer for removal of the right pivot pin.
Question is where can I source one from and is it needed?
Looking at the OEM drawings is it correct to say if I remove the 3 screws from the right pivot pin I could drift it out from the left hand side?
I don't mind buying a special tool but only if it is needed.
I hope some sage can help and awaiting your replies.
Cheers
Paul

I've not done it but it looks like if the three screws are removed the pivot pin should come out with the centre of the swinging arm taper bearing.

I bought a cheap slide hammer from Machine Mart for around £11.00 - did the job.

The bearing cover plate is not really hammered into the frame. I put an M6 bolt into the centre hole and used a small crowbar to CAREFULLY lever the thing out. Use enough wood packing on the frame to give a direct pull on the M6 bolt head. Mine needed next to no force so don't use something 3ft long.

It would probably also work with a claw hammer. Again with suitable packing to get the pull angle correct. Don't go heaving hard and the cover should come out quite easily.
