Removing a vario lock barrel, with the key

My 1200 is going next week and I have just remembered the locks in my vario panniers which are coded to the 1200. I still have the 1200 and do still have the key.

Can anyone advise me how to safely remove the barrel?

I’ve looked on you tube but can’t see anything on removing the barrel with the key inserted. Lots of vids on coding a new lock

If you insert the key in the barrel then turn the key you should be able to see the little locating wafer that sticks out of the barrel and locks the barrel in to place. Push the wafer with a flat head screwdriver and the barrel complete with key can be removed then before you remove the key from the barrel make sure you tape around the body of the barrel to prevent the wafers dropping out when you remove the key

just leave them unlocked.. then re-code to the next bike or sell open...
