Hi All,

How easy is it to remove the standard BMW aluminium panniers on a 12GS Adventure? Are they quick release or bolted on? Picking up my new bike tomorrow but I have to commute in and out of work as well so would prefer not to have panniers fitted on day one. Thought I might drive round to the dealer today and take them off.

cheers, Paul :beerjug:

It takes about 5 secs.

Insert ignition key,turn,remove pannier.

and would recommend getting a set of handles for them, make it easier to lug them about if you are taking them on and off

Thanks guys for the info. I never made it to the dealer - got side tracked looking at a horse for part loan (another of my passions). Looks like I will have to do some lane splitting tomorrow but since this is GS #5 I guess I will manage ok (1100GS, 2x1150GS, 1200GS and soon 1200GSA). Hoping the weather is ok and can put 70 or so miles on it working the engine hard but not over-revving it. I only borrowed their demonstrator GSA 10 days ago while I had some warranty work done and knew I had to have one! If this bike burns as little oil, I will be a happy chappy - the ride is so much better.
