Just acquired a Trax alloy top box with a bike and it's covered in stickers. I want to remove them. Any top tips on the bext way to do this without damaging the alloy?
If you have a high-power hairdryer (nick the wife's) or perhaps a heatgun..... open the topbox and carefully (not too close or too hot) blow the heat on the inside of the box's surface where the stickers are. This will heat up the aluminium enough to allow you to easily remove the stickers from the outside. Too hot and you could damage the box or cause warping.... too little and it won't heat the panel enough!
If you do it from the outside... quite possible, be careful not to damage, shrivel or melt the sticker... then it becomes a real bitch to get off.
Once all the stickers are off - use a soft cloth with acetone to clean all residue from the box..... as good as new!
