Firstly, apologies if this is in the wrong section.

I want to remove the BMW System panniers that came with my 1150GS and sell them. Does anyone know if I need to remove anything besides the panniers themselves and the rails to enable them to be fitted to a different bike? There are some bits attached to the passenger footpegs, but they look like they are an integral part of the footpegs.

Also, these panniers are keyed to match my ignition key, obviously I don't want to be giving away a key to my bike, so do I need to get a set of replacement locks or can I just get hold of another key and make changes to the locks?

Panniers and rails are all you need. Teh footpeg bits are integral on the bike.

Locks are easy to code to a new key, either by changing the plungers in the locks or by filing them down. A dealer would be happy to recode and supply a new key or you could sell them as is (or without locks) and let the new owner code up to their key.

Plenty of info should be on here - try a search.

When I sold my system panniers, I just gave the buyer one of my spare keys temporarily. He could then use them for a week or 2 till he got a new coded key from his local dealer - cost about £10 IIRC. He then posted me the spare key back. Everyones happy. :thumb

Thanks for the info.

Shamrock - I guess I would be looking for around £200 plus whatever it costs to post them (that might be a lot if they're going all the way to Ireland!), without keys ready for you to have keyed to your own bike.

Yeah probably will be a bit pricey for me then. Ah just a idea anyway!

Thanks anyway!

That`s getting on for about £50 over the going rate,if it`s any help to you.

OK, thanks. I just halved what they would cost new, I'll revise the price and get them posted in the For Sale section.
