Apologies for posting this on the RT section (despite having an ST!) but desperate to resolve and no one answered. My r12ST has a DWA-6 alarm fitted I need to remove the battery but was deafened when I tried to remove the terminals! OUCH!! I had thought I had deactivated the alarm (turn key in ignition and then off, press fob once to get couple of beeps, then again to get 3 beeps - this deactivates it normally) but clearly not.

Is there something I'm missing? The manual offers very little besides the above procedure and appears to have procedure to deactivate the alarm or motion sensor-very confusing? No reference to what to do when you need to take off the battery?
thanks
oh I hate alarms and will remove it completely when I can!!

On my last GS I removed battery terminals to install satnav wires, just pressed the key fob when it went off not sure if it resets & could go off later that was a bmw alarm ?

Deactivating motion sensor is simple enough only done it ready for transport to new buyer, wish I'd done it before kept forgetting it arms itself after turning ign off lol
When I did mine I used my spare key to cycle though the on/off procedure so I could use the fob at best angle.

thanks but I'm not sure whether the process you describe is the same for removing the battery? I have also fitted sat nav cables and whilst the alarm can go off as soon as you replace the terminals everythings fine again. But without the terminals?!!!

ok bmw have now intructed me thus: turn the ignition on then off, you then have 30 seconds to disconnect the battery - simple. Done this and it works! its a bit like being a UXB specialist! ok its not
