I had an odd shaped load to take on a long trip (800mm lens to the Lakes), and thought that I'd quickly whip off the rear seat, Vario top-box and bracket to make a large flat area. Huh!
Thumbs down for the difficult to access Torx head boltin the middle - just fiddly and not something to do in the dark.
Double thumbs down for the two bolts that fix the black metal bars to the rear of the frame. Why so tight?
I wasn't paying attention, too bloody eager, and didn't read this... http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=182456&highlight=bracket+1200
...so now I'm off to find a 3-6mm Easy Out bit to try to drill and tap out the bolt that snapped inside
It came out 10mm and then snapped off flush with the washer, so not even a little bit left out so I can hang onto with a vice grip. I wouldn't dare weld a nut on or heat this up, even if there was anything protruding.
Any suggestions before I stuff things up even further? This won't be the last time I'll want to remove the bracket.
