I have ordered a Remus front pipe from Nippies, does anyone know if I need any gaskets/o-rings to fit it to the heads or does it fit straight on. I am using my original silencer for the time being and will use some exhaust paste between the two. May get the silencer at a later date I want to see what its like without the cat first.

you dont need any special gaskets. You do however need to ensure you have ordered the right one for your bike as, if you have crash bars, the lambda sensor holes are placed differently.

Dave, from what I have read there are two crush washers that should be replaced at the engine/header connections. Some claim you can reverse and resuse. Let us know.

cheers

Remus exhaust

Dave,

Fit a complete remus system a year ago, every simple to do but would suggest new exhaust gaskets and some exhaust paste gasket for the end can seal. As the pipes are larger diameter suggest offering they up loose to the end can then tighten down.

I did too!

I have also done this, but am experiencing a large flat spot between 6-7500 rpm, almost as if it is running lean. I did not see any gaskets to replace, and can't hear/feel any leaks. Anyone got any ideas? I was wondering if the ecu takes a while to correct the fuelling for the pipes. I only took it for a 5min run.

Front pipes

I only ordered the pipes last night so hope to get them before the weekend, will let you know how it goes. No crash bars fitted at present!

Fitted a full Remus system about a month ago.

No need for new gaskets at the cylinders; there don't appear to be anyold ones!

There were a couple of new crush washers supplied for the O2 sensors.

I found the thing easy to fit averagely and a b*tch to fit well. I am still not really happy with the line up of the can mount with the bracket on the bike - the angle seems wrong. I have loosened the bolt off acouple of turns which allows some free movement and vastly reduces vibes.

I fitted it complete and then rode teh bike for 200 miles then loosened it all off in situ, applied some gasket cement to the Y piece splitter and the can joint gave it a good old wiggle to settle itself in and bolted it all up again.

Touch wood, no leaks from any joints.

I have H&B bars and the downpipes have the O2 sensors located in the straight section back to the Y. This leaves the cables to the O2 sensor connections a little short and requires some fiddling to clik the connector in place.

Now - It still pops and bags on over run and on some up changes - I am told that this is normal and in fact the new RT and ST do this on standard pipes - it is due to the weak fuelling.

Afformentioned vibes - better with mounting bolt loosened (will need a better solution to this)

Occaisionally after a run if left idling while garage door opened, the bike will not pick up cleanly from the throttle - suggests metering not coping with the reduction in backpressure. Not sure what you do about this as the bike runs great at higher revs.

Fairly noisy without Db killer and has melted my number plate (better now I have added some aluminuium tape to the back of it); but not my panniers. My Titanium Revolution can has the revised outlet that angles the exhaust down from the indicator to avoid melting this too.

Other than this - it has been a great mod.

Front pipe

My exhaust has turned up at work today so I will fit it tonight if I have time. It has come with new washers for the oxygen sensors. My new motorrad hugger is also due before the weekend and I fitted my oil cooler grill on Monday. Not looking forward to the credit card bill!!!

Suposidly the crush washers are easy to miss and many do not even notice them.

Crush washers $$$$$

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Foothills BMW here in Denver just charged me $17 for a set of the crush washers (part # 18117673763) as I just changed out my stock system with the full Remus with the Ti can. My bike is back firing on decel once in a while and I would like to put another set of gaskets in there, but for $17 a set! Where can I find the cheap ones you are talking about? Joel

Front pipes

:bounce1 I have changed the front pipes over tonight, it took me about 1.5 hrs as I was in no rush. I refitted the oxygen sensors as they were as the copper washers on the blanking plugs on the new pipes looked different. The pipes seem to have a tin gasket/crush washer where they mount to the head I did nothing to them as I did not have new ones and they looked fine and I just fitted the pipes to them. The bike runs fine at tick over and I took it for a quick 15 minute ride and everything was Ok. It does not seem any louder but seems more responsive although it could be in my mind. I will give it a proper run at the weekend.
