Well it is not only the BMW product as in my R1200GSA that seems to have issues. I had a full Remus system fitted from new in July 2008. I have just had the can replaced as it decided to fall apart (literally) and now one of the headers has developed a 1 inch crack near the cylinder head. Now removed and sent off for inspection and replacement (hopefully). The bike has covered 24,000 miles in 15 mths but I would not have expected this to happen.

The failure of the can is not good, but the header crack may have been caused by its fitting (poor alignment when the bolts were done up tight) such that it's been continually under stress and has failed due to fatigue

Fitted from NEW by dealer so I would hope it was fitted correctly !

It' s almost impossible to miss align headers when fitting so it will be a manufacturing fault. Hopefully you will get it sorted under warranty.

The can falling to bits is not good and just proves that things aren't what they used to be and you are paying a bit for the name.

Remus cans do fall apart, it's been mentioned several times on here, they fracture round the body about half way along.

Have'nt heard about headers breaking before.

Remus are replacing the right hand side header under the warranty, which is good. Shame they won't replace the left one too as it is the only original part of the exhaust left and will no doubt break at some point.
