Getting a new GSA TE on Saturday. Standard pipe sounds ok but my mate has an Akra which sounds great.

any opinions on which is preferred Similar price but the Akra requires no remap which I think is the same as the Remus.

Any opinions welcome though.

Neither can itself require a remap.

If you fit a decat then it is preferable to remap

It really depends on what you want, individual choice, there are now a LOT of options for the GS/GSA Wetheads.

There is a thread on here from a little while back with many exhausts and pictures of said exhausts. Not wishing to offend anyone, but you don't have to be an akrasheep :) you can buy excellent exhausts from

Arrow
Termignoni
Leo Vince
Yoshimura ( thing of beauty)
Remus
Akrapovic
BeoWulf
Zard
Scorpion
MIVV
GPR

To name but a few

What the Akrapovic does have going for it (as I think it's uglier than the stock can) is the residual, so if you bought one, you'd sell it back on here in a couple of years for 50 - 60% of it's new price.

I tried both on my K1300R a few years back.
It would be Akrapovic every time for me. Better quality, nicer sound.
I've just sold an Akrapovic for a GS lc (sorry) and it fitted perfectly, sounded nice and weighed nothing.

Personally,I wouldn't waste good money on the other silencers out there-you get what you pay for.

Good luck.

I've got Remus's (or its Remus) fitted to my 16GT. Looked at the Akra and didn't go that way because of he sheep thing but more importantly they just sounded better imho.

Its individual taste but the resale is a good point and these days we do buy with an eye on that in the future or I do in any event. YouTube's my friend and I'm off there now to compare

This company are local to me. They make a quality product and are well respected. Good prices as well. Worth a call to see if they have started making cans for the new gs.

Can never understand this thing about spending hundreds of pounds on an exhaust can when there is nothing wrong with the original.

Still, you spend your own money the way you want.

Having spent £1000's on exhaust cans Over the years ,the best thing I've done recently is put decat headers on a bike with the stock silencer.
It worked really well on my old R1200R.
I'll be doing the same to my new RS after its first service.

As have stated elsewhere, the full Akra system was tad too noisy for me.

Maybe full Remus next time if a little quieter or just Akra headers and standard can.
