My 1100Gs was equipped with Remus when i bought it. I tried the original system now and the bike feels a lot better to drive. What are your experience with changing? Is it worth to loose a few punds of weight and get a more manly sound
Hi mate i had the remus on my 1100gs and i sold it and went back to stock.I found it a drone and it may sound faster but it aint. The bike rides better with the stock and you dont lose the low end torque.
Bin it. I ran mine for years, then i borrowed Steptoe's loaner. It was a revelation. Now I run mine with a new MRA screen and std can. It feels pretty similar, although with less vibration from the can, plus a lot less noise. Motorways are now quiet relaxing affairs. I can even hear tyre noise now, never heard it before.
If you only ride for a an hour or two on w/e's then you might want the sound, otherwise I would bin the Remus.
Mine's about to be replaced by the standard can. The Remus is really noisy - it still sounds loud through moulded ear plugs and over the top of music being played and I think that will get very wearing on a long trip.
I cant say that the sound bother me from the Remus, and i also think the vibrations are more from the original system, but slightly more low end tourqe pleases me. the thing is that i cant really see the benefits in paying a lot of money for it....
I think there's only one valid reason to change the exhaust... and thats luggage. If you want full size luggage change the exhaust - if you don't - don't.
If I went down that route then I wouldn't touch a remus anyway. I would go for the low Staintune,
