I have an 05 1200 gs and have been offered a can off an 08 bike will it fit ?

We have fitted full systems from 2004 bikes to 2008 and 2011, with no problems - you just can't mix and match the headers and end cans from the earlier bikes to the twin cams - so as long as you are moving the whole exhaust system there should be no issues.

Some Akraprovic systems also work as a set & can't be mixed & matched. They will however fit all years including TCs if the flips valve is removed.

I think you can mix and match the pipes from old and new. I have early headers with later can. I junked the ridiculous exhaust valve that will fail at some point and had a pipe made to join the the two halves.
Find your neatest performance car exhaust people and they will knock you one up in no time. Took twenty minutes and cost me £20 for stainless link with two stainless clamps.
Make sure you get remap after as the bike will run lean.

Yes, as others have said, you can mix & match headers and cans on all pre 2010 (TC) GS/GSA models.
