Remus Y piece Centre Stand Stop

I've fitted a Remus Y piece. None of the usual problems, used dry joints, no leaks, very easy and works perfectly except....... when I let the bike off the centre stand it crashes into the lower suspension link and the exhaust. On closer inspection I can see that the centre stand stop has bent up slightly allowing the stand to foul the bike. OK, I thought, I'll bend it down to give the required clearance. However, with the bike on the sidestand, I can allow the centre stand to ping up under the spring pressure and after 3 or 4 pings the stop is bent and the stand is crashing into the bottom of the bike.
I cannot understand why I seem to be the only person with this problem. Have I got an extra strong spring, a dodgy Remus, or does everybody's do that and they just ignore it? Can anybody help?

Never had a problem with mine. No bendy metal here....

Likewise. See if you can find someone to weld a thicker plate on it to reinforce it. That should stop it from bending.

...had two Remus systems 1100 and 1150 not had this problem or ever heard of it...contact them and see how they deal with it....blimey the money they must get out of this club you would think an exchange would be on the cards!!!:bash

Yep mine does too!

Mine does exactly the same..........

My solution ( if I ever get around to it) is to cable tie a bit of rubber ( car mat /tyre inner tube) onto the paralever strut as this is where the stand crashes into every time.

As you say, if you bend the metal down it doesnt take long before its bent back up again........

Me too
Rushys' solution does work.
I use a piece of mouse mat preferably one with a "hard" finish - you have to keep an eye on it though as it wears out pretty quick.
Do it sooner rather than later though as once the finish on the paralever arm is cracked its in a very exposed place.

Are you sure that it where it is hitting?

Mine strikes the s/s cover that is combined with the exhaust clamp and so do at least three others GSers that I know to as well.

Mine hits bith sides! Superglued a bit of old inner tube under the paralever strut which works OK but buggered if I can figure out how to stop the clanging on the s/s cover side. Bloody annoying

Thanks for all those feedbacks. I was only expecting one or two replies. Have you guys got nothing better to do? What I think I'll do is have a go at brazing a stiffener on. Should do less damage to chrome than welding and might be more appropriate on a £9000 bike than a taped on mousemat. However, if I see a mouse mat at the right price....

Me neither:confused:

Mine is made worse coz I have the Touratech bash plate on the stnad as well, so its has more weight on it now which makes for a good ole thud when taking it of the main stand.

When I fitted the Remus Ti can last weekend I must have spent a couple of hours trying to position the s/s cover so that it would not hit...........needless to say I failed!

I then tried to bend the s/s bracket on the Remus Y-piece down a little bit so that it would hit that sooner........failed again! The weight of the mainstand and Touratech bash plate swinging back just bent it back up again.

B*ll*cks to it in the end, I then decided that........."they all do that Sir" and left it alone!

Had another butcher's at it today and it's definitely that bendy s/s bracket underneath. Wondered about drilling it, fitting a spacer and a big hex head bolt so's the stand stop hits earlier? Maybe that might make the stand deck out earlier too, dunno........
