remus y piece fitting

I am currently in the middle of replacing my cat and end can part of my exhaust on a 2001 r1150gs. in its place is going to be a remus y piece and end can, would anybody be able to tell me if the lambda ? sensor needs to be fitted into the new remus y piece? their is a hole for it but i just want to check .
