Repair\rewinding rotor?

My rotor has failed - the connection between slip-rings is open circuit. Paralever model.
Is there any point in trying to find someone to rewind\repair it? Has anyone found that a repaired rotor lasts?

When you can get a used one from mw for about £30 or a pattern new one for less than 50 I'd say, no...

...plus VAT and the not insignificant postage to IRL.
But price aside, I just like the idea of repairing instead of disposing - assuming I'll be able to find a repairer locally of course.
