after 2 weeks with my new 1100gs (1998) i have decided to keep it, not going to go mad with add ons - but i was wondering if anyone knows.....

the moulded plastic tool tray under the pillion seat, is there an aftermarket "tray" that can fit here instead of the moulded one? (i don;t want to carry the tools - but would like some room for cargo net, lock, etc. instead....)

thanks for any help. . . :thumb

MAYBE THIS WILL HELP??

When I rebuilt my motor I stripped mine (Gs11) ,or was it the Tow Bar I Fitted? Anyway it comes out and has the Guard underneath? Not much more room though. I don't know of any After Market Replacement Trays. BIGJim Tasmania. :beerjug:

Tool box

There was a company in the US who used to advertised a tool "pocket" made of kevelar which replaced the tool box and was supposed to make a much bigger compartment for tools. I thought about one of these but they appear to have been discontinued as no trace can be found. These were expensive so possibly not a viable idea. I plut duct tape across the edges of the back mudgard to see how far the wheel would move and only one up with camping gear it was worn through so the isent much room for a bigger box.
Perhaps a plain tray without all the pockets might give more space.

thanks -

i already investigated removing the moulded plastic (tool) tray, it leaves large gaps where stuff (whatever i put under the seat) would fall through - - i really don't need the tool kit - (i have AA membership for that!) - so i will keep searching the www and see what i can come up with. . .

cheers! :thumb
