replaced battery now rough as a badgers arse....

One other thought, the battery connections are clean / corrosion free and the leads are securely attached at both ends? Clutching at straws, as I know you've already connected / disconnected the battery.

yes all cleaned scrubbed and fully tightened, ill report back when the old battery is in place.

for the throttle cable movement - i thought this only applied to the 1100 and 1150 - its a deferent design on the 1200 i believe.

i know the oil level indicator on the 1200 has some strange habits but just noticed on mine that its virtually zero, bikes been stood for about 3 months.

is a bit odd as the level has always been in the upper 3/4 range

I may be wrong, but I think if the bike has been fired up/turned over for short periods the oil level will show as lower than usual. It needs a good run, getting it up to running temperature to show the correct level (after 10 mins stood on flat ground). :nenau

update #356...

old battery makes no difference - had to jump it though.

LH cylinder is colder than the RH, going to find a plug socket in my myriad of assorted junk, check the spark etc then swap the coils over if nothing is found.

fecking piss :blast

all correct and present inc the little plastic cap for the throttle sync. I will double check it again though to be safe.

to clarify the LH cylinder does get warm, but that might just be compression?

Does the exhaust pipe get "oh fcuk that's hot" or "I wish that plastic bag hadn't blown onto the exhaust and smeared itself all over it".

Tried some fresh fuel in as well, just in case the 3 month old stuff is off? No mice nests etc in the air filter. Grasping at straws here :(

just touching the cylinders as didnt want to burn my lovely soft hands :eek

rh is as say 60c but lh is luke warm. this was after about a 30 second high idle at about 2.5 - 3.5 K.

found a plug socket so will report back on update 400 later. :thumb

plugs checked - spark from all 4 and all about the same quality/colour etc.
injectors are working evenly each side.

It is a bit easier to start now but the LH side is still cold.

by mistake i left the TPS connector off once but it didnt seem to make any difference... maybe this is the problem?

think ill have to admit defeat and take it to the stealer as there is no one i know nearby with another gs that i can swap the tps to fault find.

EDIT: seems to have cured itself after giving it loads on the way to the stealer... what pain in the arse that has been. who knows what went wrong or why - nothing showed up on the diagnostics.

yep, i pulled the injector again and was getting loads of blowback thru the hole. I have a boroscope so put it in when turning the engine by hand and could see the valve wasnt seating properly.
