A mate of mine bought a pack of these

and has offered me one - has anyone tried these?

Any warnings?

Any advice appreciated.

just wait and see what his is like then tell us instead?

Philips X-Treme Power

They are suppposedly good alternative to normal bulbs. Add 20% (web search says +80%) i think to normal bulbs. So well worth the £20 or so you can buy them at Halfords etc.

I went straight to HID's as they are the bees-knees :)

Ah, I should have been more specific......

My mate has an XT660 - I should have been specific in asking:-

a) Will it fit the BMW fitting and
b) Has it made any diference

............which is what I wanted to know before trying to fit it on my own bike.

Gunz - I hear you, I was thinking HID but wondered if these were comparable (since web hype says 80%) - thanks for the feedback - at 20% increase I don't think they would be a HID competitor so I think I'll still go for the HID's.

Thanks

and ...

c) How long will they last?

If they are genuinely beeter than those fitted as standard and just as reliable, they would probably be fitted in the factory.

I tried the previous version and found the bulbs didn't last. On one trip the dip beam went, I used my spare, then that went as well so I had to swipe the main beam bulb. Several other UKGSers reported similar problems.

But maybe these are better?

bang a 50w hid in, cant beat it:cool:

I had them in my last bike, and in my car, for over two years,
They are an improvement over the original bulb's, but nowhere as effective as HID.
I agree with Gunz - forget about 80% more like 20%:)
