Many thanks to fellow member Demongroover for sending me some of these replacement Southco hinges
I thought it would be worthwhile just documenting how the fitting of these went as other may want to get some
The Model type is SouthCo E6-10-420-50 Constant Friction Hinge
Here are the standard hinges complete with the plastic covers hiding the attachment screws :

This is the replacement Southco Hinges :

Standard hinge with plastic cover removed . Be very careful removing these covers if you want to reuse them as spares with any of your other OEM hinges as they tend to have gone very brittle over time :

Removed plastic covers :

The top two fixing for the hinges are two M6x12mm socket button head screws fixed on the inside through a metal support bar and a washer and a M6 domed head nut :

The lower two fixings are M6 x12mm socket button head screws which screw into tapped holes in the lower support bar - no washers or nuts on these :

Here is the removed OEM Hinge , note it has two rubber gaskets which fit between the pannier shell and the hinge :

Holes in the Southco hinges line up perfectly with the OEM hinge holes :

Soutcho hinges fitted with rubber gaskets behind them . The OEM lower fixings which are M6x12mm are too short and need to be replaced with M6x16mm longs screws :

RH hinge replaced and LH hinge is OEM for comparison :

Southco hinge action is very smooth and being metal will no doubt prove to be very robust
OEM Plastic covers to hide fixings cannot be used with new Southco hinges
If you are very fussy you could trim the gaskets to match the profile of the new Southco hinges
All in all a very good replacement part which should last much longer then the plastic OEM ones and at a much cheaper price
Thanks again to Demongroover for supplying the hinges
