Replacement rear fenders

I have just taken delivery of a new UFO rear guard however it doesn't have the squared off lower rear portion as I would rather have the VMX look.
I haven't tried it for size yet however does look a lot wider than I imagined.
I will post some pics later if you want to compare.

I've got a source of brand new/unused gen. BMW rear mudguards unpainted. Fit 80 GS, ST etc.

Get in touch if any use to you.

Here's the one that i picked up. I haven't fitted it yet but gives you an idea

I fitted one of the UFO ones to the bitza.. looked good and tail light was okay. But as I was usuing the std twin shock subframe it did look a little low, would look better on a G/S subframe I'm sure.

The new one is the UFO vintage MX model

The existing one looks like this. The newer one sits 10mm higher at it's tallest when sitting hard against the rear subframe. I heated the top up with a heatgun & plonked the seat on & sat on it. The guard flattened out nicely at the top.

Heres what it looks like finished

It doesn't drop as low at the front so some mud will hit the battery but I like the look a lot better. It is pretty much the same width.

That's got to be the worst looking seat I've ever seen :D

Yep:D
But I made it myself- like a few parts on my bike. heaps of fun tho. I found the riding position reallly cramped after my KLR so raised the seat & dropped the pegs.
As I ride it I'm assessing what I like & don't like about the seat for when I make a better one. (Well, a prettier one I should say)

I have a rear fender from a 80/100 paralever gs sitting in the garage. Its in very good cond. though is painted red. If anyone needs one pm me.

Can't fault it for practicality but you might want a few tips on the execution

Ah yes my young friend, however life ( & this bike) are a learning curve.

The thing I found making the seat is it's all good untill the last pull & stitch.
Anyway it makes the mudguard look better:D

DRZ400 in the back under the sail?

you can prob cut the front of your old fender and attach to the new one to stop mud slinging to the batt

Damn you're good - KLX400 actually but same thing as you know.

I did a bit of muddy, offroad riding in the weekend & it didn't bother me having the mud splatter up there - I like the opened up look more, it will be better when i get rid of the stock pipe & put on the R1 pipe.
What I didn't expect during the ride was the battery jumping up out of the cradle & rubbing against the rear tyre - I need to put some straps back on it:blast

:D used to have one, so I recognise the forks easily. btw the 400 neck bearings match the Bmw if you wanna play around a bit with the fork

Mmmmm don't get me started on those. I've got a set of YZ forks in the wkshop -I 'm waiting for BMWRSNUT to finish his & get them running right before I hand mine to him & say - ' Here have another go"

What do you thing of the UFO guard anyway? Is it what you were expecting. it's just as wide & easy enough to fit. Myself, i would have prefered a narrower, higher look.

I'm not sure.... I think that I still prefer the oldschool look of the one I posted in the first post.. I have a spare R100GS guard that i will tinker around with for the time being

ps. what happened to the kiwibiker forum? I can't seem to find it??
Igormortis still got my old R100GS?

Yes, he's still got it. We are hassling him to start a new thread over on ADVrider as he is quietly stashing parts for a RTW bike.

Check out the New Zealand thread on adv rider or the bmw thread on kiwibiker- it's hard to get into sometimes.
Yes Igorthebastardmortis is still showing off your bike & has been collecting many parts & letting a few clues slip that indicate he is up to something extremely devious. We can't seem to get anything out of him yet.
