Hello All,
Just returned from Europe having suffered my first puncture with a tubed wheel and £££££kerching, £450* later, I've decided I want a tubeless rear wheel!

I love the 990 so don't really want to do away with it; so can anyone tell me where I can get an 18" tubeless rim wheel to fit the Adv?

Before any of you take the p*ss at my lack of ability to change/repair it at the road side; it was on the bend of the a'route and f*ing scary/dangerous and, as it turned out, beyond repair any way! (The rim tape had split and the spoke heads had destroyed the tube from the inside- no warning at all!!)

* Recovery off autoroute to recovery company base; recovery to tyre dealer next day (broke down too late in the day to find one open); a night in a sh*tty hotel in a sh*tty town; £170 for a new tyre/tube.

Love Katy.

Cheers for the info Pipster; better than some of the replies I had on other sites:eek. I had already checked advrider and had seen the other article. I don't like the idea of sealing the spoke heads and am hoping for something like a cast rim!

Nothing to stop you putting a cast wheel on the KTM but you'll need a matching front to avoid it looking crap.

You'll need to take the following in to account:
Hub width,
Spindle diameter,
Sprocket offset & chain run,
Disc offset,
Disc diameter & thickness,
Caliper mounting etc

Then repeat for the front wheel.

You'll need some lateral thinking skill & access to a lathe etc for turning up new spacers. You may also need to fit new wheel wheel bearings with a different ID to match the KTM spindle. All this takes time & effort to do it properly, get it wrong & it could be disastrous. Will be expensive if you pay someone else to do it.

Superduke wheels may the easiest way to proceed?

Alernatively, learning to change tubes will be considerably cheaper, easier & quicker, plus you'll have gained a new skill that will save you money in years to come - as I mentioned in the other forum.......
