Continuing the saga of my originally cheap 1100GS (after about a grand's worth of replacement parts, I'm now wondering if it was actually a good deal) anyway, I've thrown so much money at it now that I can't really justify selling it for a while, and I've just noticed that the rear shock is leeking a bit of oil.
I spoke to the dealer and he recommended the following:
Cheap option, take the standard shock apart and try to rebuild it. (bike has 45,000 miles on now and still adding 350 odd a week so not sure this is the best option)
Fit a new rear shock, and a new spring on the front to even it up a bit. I wondered about Ohlins but I think it's horrendously expensive, he recommended HyperPro (a dutch alternative and a bit cheaper), spoke to my brother about it and he though Hagon might have something cheaper.
Cheaper is obviously better and don't really care about pose value, but something which would suit a bit of spirited summer sport riding would be nice, not sure about prices but I think the price for a new front HyperPro spring and rear shock was in the region of 600 Euro.
Any good advice would be appreciated.
David
