anyone out there replaced the above item on an 1150? Anything I should know, what's the SP etc

Looks pretty much like mine is leaking oil under pressure. Thankfully good ole SLM are open tomorrow to get a replacement, but as the workshop aint I'll have to do it myself.

The other option is to try and tighten and then have it replaced at the next service, two weeks time. My major concern with this is that I do the better part of 170 miles a day and I'm unsure as to whether or not this is a legit/wise short term fix.

Thanks for any info

Paul are you talking about the ceramic/plastic switch? The usually get hairline cracks and when they heat up expand and leak like hell.

I qoute out of the Haynes...

Removal
1. On GS models remove sump guard (think it is not needed on the 1150)
2. Detach the wiring connector
3. Unscrew the oil pressure switch and withdraw from the crankcase. (I would suspect some oil to piss out at this point)

Installation
1. Apply suitable sealant to the upper portion of the switch threads near the switch body, leaving the bottom 3 to 4mm of thread clean.
2. Install the switch in the crankcase and tighten it to the torque setting (30NM)
3. Attached the wiring connector
4. Run the engine and check that the switch operates correctly.
5. Install sumpguard.

Stand back and admire your bike while finishing your tea.
