I've had a butchers at the loom and the multiplug under the tank for the grips appears to be there, the bars have the little hole near the yokes and there is a blank cover over the place where the switch should be on't dash. Is it as easy a job to retrofit them as I think or am I setting myself up for swearathon
It's got ABS so I thought from what I've read that'll mean it'll have the higher output alternator
Anyone done the same or know whats actually involved?
I have never heard of anyone Retro Fitting. But, can't see why it would be a problem. My 11 has ABS and Heated grips as many have? So? Alternator size the same in all the 1100cc ones. Yes 1150 had the Adventurer ( off the piont)!! I'm certain the 11 where all the same. 700W if I remember more than enough?
Watch your switch Mounting and dont forget to allow for Throttle Twist ??
I'm certain someone will be along soon with a better answer!
I noticed no reply yet so just popped in to say
.... "G day to Fello 'Elevenhundreder' "? BIGJim.
I have fitted them to other bikes. For years.
Allow Cable movement under Full Rotation of the Throttle Grip. So Full throttle can be used and not pull the cable.
Warm your grips before removing ( I used a hair dryer). Spray paint the inside of the Grips on replacement- Lubes them on and dries firm. Better than Glue easy to get off latter.
Make sure the fuse is in the Suply Line ! The Correct Rating and easy to get at.
Solder all jionts. Heated Grips Drain your Battery QUICKLY. So find an Ignition side Live Wire and not off the Battery.
That's all I can think of Pigglet? By the way They are great mate!....See good site! BIGJim Tasmania. Aust.
Thanks for the info guy's
I've been parted from my beloved for a couple of days now so not had a chance to look at her since I posted this. I was assuming that there would be a space in the fusebox for the take off to the grips given that the loom appears to be the same whether the bike got heated grips or not
Will investigate further in the next couple of days when I get some time off.
