Reusable oil filters

Not for me thanks.
Washing of oil filters can help debris travel deeper into the filter, ie, towards the clean side.
The cost of bike oil filters are buttons nowadays, and the size of the things, they can fit in a coat pocket easily.

here we go !!!!!!!!!!

Why does washing make the dirt travel further into filter ? as this means it has not been washed fully or washed incorrectly. Same as clothes that are still dirty after being washed. I would say they are going to be very popular in the future. I suggest ignorance of the facts will be causing most of the negative reactions. The same happened when original and none original oil filters were discussed ?

Well if you do plenty of miles they work out cheaper. They filter better and are better for er the enviroment. Ok last ones a bit weak ! remember there are other makes of motorbike out there and some have lower service intervals ect ? and we all dont live in the UK where everything is cheap and available.

So you want to save £7ish every 12,000 miles???

Next you'll stop using your brakes to save on pad wear :blast:blast

Do you buy re-usable canbus fluid???:augie:augie

er how did you come up with those figures then ? you have made that calculation with no knowledge at all of the correct figures ?

you are right about the brake pads as what else can you do when there are times when there are no pads available in the country and you want to ride your bike ?

At the moment there is a shortage of NGK plugs because the importer has none.

Oh and tyres last year I was told 7 months wait for a rear tyre. So guess what you take it easy so they last longer.

You should read my last post regarding the world out side the UK.

Oil filters are between £7 & £8. Service bike every 6000 miles, but only change the filter every other service (so 12000 miles).

So MILF lets check your facts

Filter £7-£8 is that right ?
6000 miles service interval is that right ?

again where did you get these figures from your crystal ball ?

I am open to all thought out, factual responses to the idea of reusable oil filters. Not excited knee jerk responses.

Lots of people use reusable air filters no one complains about the cleaning of them, effectiveness and the cost ? however the potential for damage I would suggest is just as high.

Well you don't need a reusable oil filter if you can't use your bike :D

And i doubt they'll work out cheaper if you're paying someone to service your bike and they charge to clean the filter.

Again people make assumptions. I did not say my bike was not usable.
The main consideration as to the cost saving of a reusable filter I suggest are:

Cost of said filter ?
Cost of standard filters ?
How many miles a year ridden ?
What bike ?

It seems the facts should never get in the way of righteous preaching !

Don't for get the old VW beetle engine only used a strainer made of wire gauze this was just washed and replaced. Many of these engines did over 100,000 miles and they were reliable!.
