Hi

Does anyone have any experience with the rev'it equipment? Specifically the off track jacket and dakar pants?

I'm trying to avoid the over BMW styling :P- but still get the quality...

I'm in the same spot - picking up my 1200GS on Friday and need to get my gear this week. I was looking at the Vanucci Ventus 111 stuff at the getgeared store in Leatherhead and it looks pretty good, better than the Hein Gericke gear, I thought, for the money. Anyone know anything about Vanucci??
 
Have dakar trousers as do mate , brother in law and his missus, also the off track jacket, great value for money , warm when needed and cool with venting and liners out, waterproof too, would buy them again.

Yup I bought that combo when I got my GS, approx 6 months ago
in that time I've ridden in 28C and 10C and it copes with both quite well, with all the liners out, it's a cool jacket, the trousers less so but thats more a fault of the screen you sit behind than the trousers themselves..
plenty warm with just the waterproof liners in, annd toasty with it all in, lots of adjustment to allow for the liners and extra underneath
Waterproofwise, I've not got wet yet inspite of some fairly heavy rain BUT others seem to have had problems.
I had one issue with some stitching on the trousers but Rev'It just replaced with a new pair without any worries whatsoever:thumb2
Size wise, their on line size charts worked out well on for me. I erred slightly on the large side to make sure but could have used either size with no problems.
my only gripe would be the armour, the back protector is crap, spring for the Knox CE one and the knee protectors are comfy but a tad small, they fit well but feel slightly undersized after wearing full MX knee armour for years....;) so that could be just me.
all in all I'm impressed and they are standing up to some abuse on and off road with little trouble, so far..I'd buy them again !:beerjug:
 
up until a few weeks ago i was all for the Dakar trousers.

mine have split at the knee at the seam which has given way and exploded.

owned them for 18 months and they have been waterproof for the whole time. But they now need patching to keep them useable.

:nenau did they split of their own accord or as a result of an off ?
Mine were wearing in the trouser seat area...just a small amount of stitching but enough for me to send em back..as I said replaced no problem....
 
i had waterproofing issues, but the liners were all replaced and so far so good. i've also had a couple of heavy offs, one of which involved sliding up a gravel road with a heavy bike on top of me. the side of the suit got ripped up a bit, but the armour was perfect and a lesser suit would've left me with more cuts/bruises and maybe a break. i think it's a pretty good buy for the money and will know better after riding through this winter. some patching now required in quite a few places!!!
 
rev-it Off-Track / dakar combo.

Hi, I've had the Rev-it combination you refer to since April this year. It fits well, has been both waterproof and comfortable, only problem was the collar retaining loop (for holding the collar open) fraying. It's less than half the rice of a BMW twat suit yet is made to a better standard.

The vents work well. Liners are easily removed and replaced thanks to zip retainers rather than studs. They have plenty of pockets. they don't have a designer label so some snobby gits might not approve of them. So what!

I ordered the kit direct from the Rev-it web site having first tried the kit on elsewhere. You could also take a ride up to Bike Stop in Old Stevenage High Street as they stock the Rev-it range and are very helpful.

MR Funner - they did give way of their own accord but on a recent trip I scuffed the lower part of the shin.

I just know that the people at Revit wont believe me and say that the scuffing caused the knee damage ( which is not true by any means )

I have no way of proving otherwise so Its out with the needle and thread so I can sit in front of the telly looking all confused until the wife offers to do it for me :augie;)
 
I have off road and turbine trousers.

So, the Turbine pants may be a better proposition than the Dakars? I like the look of the Dakars, as they have thigh patch pockets, which I have previously found useful - how roomy are the Turbines?

Are they waterproof everywhere??

They are much roomier.
I am doing the Calum's road trip bought the Dakar pant but wanted more room!!!
There is a waterproof liner but no insulation. M&S fleece long johns work for me when I ski.
There are 2 zip pockets, the front of the leg seems breathable, will drop a note in tomorrow after a ride out.
