Guys, I had my 2010 GSA lowered by 40mm today by Revs Racing and I want to say a) how fantastic the change was to me and my GSA and b) how fantastic the geezer were who looked after my bike.

The bike is transformed - no, I am not hard core so I don`t need the travel anyway (my respect for the hard core guys - who all must be over 6ft - remains undiminished :bow) and having to tippy toe around has been, quite honestly, a very nervous experience (and I`ve been biking since my 16 year old moped days!). I feel safe on the thing now and sooooo much more happier :bounce1. I have also had the side stand replaced. The shocks have been replaced with fully adjustable Wilbers german engineering units. It could have been my glee and rose coloured glasses but the handling seemed much more improved too :thumb - not being a `spring geek` I have no idea why (better quality units :nenau) but for sure she is muchly improved :roll

The Geezers and the service was fantastic - those who know me know that I am obsessed with service, hand made parts and the appreciation of my work (oh, and all the wine you guys send me :clap). This is what I stand for as I see far too much sh*te out there mass produced with cost engineered out and made by some faceless geek in some far away place who really doesn`t give a toss about what he makes or for whom. It`s this attitude, I think, which has got me as a valued supplier to BMW Park Lane :bow

It was an awesome refreshing change to see EXACTLY the same commitment, focus, PRIDE and `nothing is too difficult` attitude from the geezers in Brum - honesty - I know this sounds like an unashamed plug and it is. it`s really good to see that British pride and craftsmanship is alive and kicking in not just my pants :D

Guys, if you need your bike lowering THESE are the guys to do it. They have a fantastic reputation (I checked), know what they are doing and simply care about what they do!

I read about lots of complaints on the forum (mostly justified) and it pleases my ass off so tell you all about Revs Racing.

it has transformed my bike and I am very thankful to all at Revs Racing :bow

Best regards, ride carefully,

mark

How is the off road ability affected ?

When you are crossing muddy fields, don't you find it bottoms more easily ?

Have you fitted some castors to the cylinder heads so that you can lean from vertical ?

The 1200 GS is designed for more than straight lines and tarmac roads, maybe you should have bought, i don't know..maybe a metric cruiser ?

seems to me you are always blowing your own trumpet - can't you submit a thread without constantly referring to your rather naff products :augie

In no order, guys, replies as requested.

No, my bike isn`t ESA though they can do them but it takes longer and costs more.

Yes, I would be concerned about grounding but I will happily confess that I am not using the bike to its full potential, no one is holding a gun to my head - it was my choice and I agree that any other bike would possibly be fine. It`s just that IMHO the GS and the GSA are about the best bikes I have ever ridden and I am totally smitten and I wager that some other fellow Tossers are too! If I have a need to go off road I`ll always use my standard 06 GS!

Leaning - fair point and the answer is I don`t know! If I ride to my abilities (modest, 30 years on bikes, adv rider & Bikesafe) I very much doubt I`ll get it over to a point where I`m grinding the valve covers!

Cost - circa £1,200 - it aint cheap but once again nobody was holding a gun to my head and it`s made me enjoy the bike much more.

thosoneill - I initially did consider not replying to you as I feel that your comments are not in the spirit of the forum. Quite a few of the guys have purchased my `naff` stuff from me and left glowing reports (there are a few on the forum, take a look) and they all seem very happy with the quality and value. I will try to respect your opinion - my stuff won`t appeal to everyone - but I still think you are being a twat coming out with stuff like that as a PM expressing your opinion of my stuff would have been fine.

Moving forward - I`ll let you all know if I come across any negatives as I see them and please do not hesitate to contact me if you want any further information but for those who want a more rideable GSA and are willing to give up a chuck of the machines off road performance then the conversion seems a great idea.

Handled with dignity Mark :thumb2

I for one can verify the quality of Mark's 'naff' stuff!

I'm prone to buying a lot of 'bling'....bit don't tend to put a lot of it on the bike, due to...

1..me not really liking too much bling on my Gsa ,and prefer to keep it standard, but for a few functional high quality bling items.
2..a lot of the stuff you can buy is poor quality, and just functionally useless.....I've sold on a lot of Touratech, and a few Wunderlich items which were pointless or cheaply made.

I've recently bought some of Mark's products....and they will DEFINATELY be going on my bike. They're quality products, and functional too.

As for blowing his own trumpet!....I think that's more conveying his personal work ethic to his products, and his customers!.....and it's totally genuine!
It should be aplauded, not ridiculed. There are many a company that could learn a thing a two from him!

On a lighter note....hope you enjoy the Wilbers! :thumb2

Thank you

Thank you.

Yes, I agree, some things are best left untouched on a bike as I have also had that experience where some sot of item has been a waste of time and money.

Not connected, to be fair, but have you ever tried one of those TT rear cruds? Do they work?

And yes, I hope to enjoy the Wilbers and what I believe to be a cracking bike!

Regards,

Mark.

No I've never tried the TT rear crud catcher...I had looked at the Wunderlich one....so can't really comment on their performance.

More than happy with my Cymarc 'special' one! :thumb

I have thought of Wilbers though....I've a '10 Gsa with Esa..and I find it very difficult to notice the difference between the modes to be honest. Or at least not as noticable as when I used to manually set my previous '06 Gsa without Esa.

I'd go for the standard height Wilbers......but I'd wait until I'd worn these ones out a bit before I could justify the cost.

Ok, thats fine

Ok mate, thats fine - it`s only because I am concerned about the amount of crap which gets thrown up over our bikes and I am not too much of an arse to think that mine does the best job (at risk of getting lambasted for plugging my gear......).

As long as you are happy with mine or, indeed, anyone else`s - thats the main thing!

:beerjug:

Yeah - that sounds sense on the suspension.

Bloody hell....there's a decent bloke on here who makes quality stuff in the UK, trying to run a business and proud about it taking the time to share his experiences for the benefit of all and you're moaning about it. A few more people in the UK with his get up an go and maybe we wouldn't be the fu**ed up call center that we now are.

Jeeeeesus!!!

Latest feedback

Guys, I tightened up the rear suspension today and pushed the bike as far as my ability would allow (I managed to get the chicken strips down to about 5mm  which aint bad for a Jessica Wendy Pants like me!)

It did seem to handle better and I am sure there are members who could tell me why - more weight closer to the ground

All seemed ok with the ground clearance so no probs there but thanks to the memebers who flagged it up :thumb.

One thing I will say, however, and it`s got nothing to do with the suspension - in my obsession to get my ass as close to the ground as possible I have found that with my low Sergent seat my legs (albeit short anyway) are kinda scrunched up (obviously) so I would say, for the benefit of other members, please think twice about lower seats and bikes etc as there are consequences you must think about!

Although I am very happy with mine it`s only fair, and in an effort to be helpful to other members via my experiences, that I simply make a mention of it.

Funnily enough a chap from nearby Grimsby came over today to buy some stuff off me on a full fat (full height) 2010 GSA and it seemed like a bloody tower - he sat on mine and was impressed by the security of firmly grounded feet and I remained impressed with his `hardcore` attitude to riding such a towering GSA :bow

As a completely different subject, only after a few hundred miles he was very sad about the quality of finish on his bike - this, of course, is uber off topic :topic and maybe for another thread but I did feel for him - it made my replacement engine bar issue (through rust) seem rather petty...........

Anyway, if I come up with any other `on topic` observations regarding the lowering I will share them on this thread for anyone who may benefit.

Ride safe and thanks on behalf of all British Craftsmen who benefit from the support you guys give us :beerjug:
