Gentlmen once more I need your help,
a friend of mine has a 2006 R 1200 GS with 27500 Km on it. He noticed that when he pushes the bike with rather fast gear shifts the engine revs up on its own, yesterday he was driving in an uphill road and after he changed from 3rd to 4th gear and whilst he was increasing his speed, he had about 100km/h on his speedometer it reved up as if he had his hand on the clutch.
Has anyone of you experienced something like this?
I believe your experience is valuable and that is why I am asking you.
Thank you once again.

Is the "barkbusters" hindering the clutch handle to go back to "not engaged" position?

First check clutch lever to check its not fouling the hand guard. If not, stop riding now. Get it to a garage using nice low speed and get it checked. Mine was a contaminated clutch (oil leak) and luckily nothing else got damaged. Had a clutch die in similar circumstances before and it caused all sorts of damage.

Also check the clutch fluid reservoir level. As the clutch wears, the level in the reservoir rises until the expansion gap is taken up. Once that happens, any rise in heat and the clutch will start to slip. Simply draw a bit off with a syringe and all is well again.

Note the clutch uses mineral oil (Vitamol V10 or similar)and NOT brake & clutch DOT4 fluid.

Guys thank you for your answers, sorry I couldn't answer earlier but was having problems with my internet provider.
Anyway, when he releases the clutch it goes back to place without a problem, whatever happens, occurs a few seconds latter and only if you go strong on the throtle.
It is quite funny but what can I say...
He will probably end up checking it at a BMW service center.
Ether way thank you once again for your time and answers.
John from Greece.
