I posted this in the "Technical" section, but then I thought, "hmmm.... Innovators! Now those are the guys I need!" so I'm posting here too. I understand that BTBR is a whizz with wires and a soldering iron, I wonder if he would be intrested in a little project?

As some of you will know, yours truly had a bit of an accident 2 1/2 months ago during which my right hand was crushed. The end result is a reconsructed thumb which is missing the end 1/3 and it is much larger and bulkier, but worse still, as it was so badly damaged, it has 4 K wires through the two remaining joints and it is rigid.
I have visited this website and there appears to be a solution to my problem of operating the indicators on the right-hand bar. The solution for me would be to fit a new switch on the left hand bar. Unfortunately, I am not an electrician, auto or otherwise, so, is there anyone out there who would be willing to do a nice professional job for me? I still can't ride my bike yet, but I am aiming to be back on two wheels early September. Any takers or other (serious) suggestions or solutions? Thanks!

NABD have some pretty clever people. I hope you don't think I'm insulting you by suggesting you contact a disabled biker's organisation, but they really are very good at providing adaptions for people with specific needs.

Alan and Mike, thanks for your replies.

I checked out NADB before posting and they pointed me at Maplins who sell the switch that I need for £1:49 and a waterproof cover for the switch for about the same amount. I picture an alloy or stainless bracket brought around to within reach of my left thumb. It should be easy enough to fabricate, but I would like it fitted so that if the time came for me to sell the bike, then it would be simple to remove and bring back to stock.

Alan, you can be sure that I will be contacting you by 'phone and email very soon. I haven't been able to ride my bike since my accicdent in May, but I am optimistic that I will be able to ride it again sometime during September. Well that's my aim!

Thanks both!!!!

Well, I've done it! A small autoelectrical garage in Llanelli has wired up a parallel system with it's own flasher relay and inline fuse with a simple 3 position toggle switch fitted to the left hand bar! Now where's me muffs!!!!! :thumb
