Probable cause is water in the sender unit on the back of the gear box. It happens on one of my GS's, indicator just displays whatever it feels like displaying. A real pain in the arse to put right as it involves removing the paralever to get to the unit
Happened to me Colin - bike was under warranty and had no problem changing it - brother in law has an RT and had the same problem - again, changed without question. When will the manufacturers learn?????
Same again. I had the same problem on a 1100GS few years ago.
BMW paid for the switch which cost peanuts and I had to fork out for the labour. Took about 4 hours I seem to recall!!
MMMMM
Well at 7 years old and 50K not much chance of bm helping me out, worse thing was I actually cleaned the bike for the first time in 12 months, I should have known better.
Well if its a damp switch, roll on the summer!
I will not chance any more good deeds like fixing it!!!!!
Thanks
