Managed to source a replacement RID which i believe is from an RT. Not quite sure but the lead is much shorter so i presume the wiring loom to that model goes past the headstock and beneath the clocks or something?- anyway's... ive plugged the replacement in and its working HURRAH! my old one had died.
However - the gear indicator is completely blank, now i've had a check up on here and most seem to go wrong with blinking or saying there in neutral or what have you.
Just wondering if the blanking is a common issue, namely that the sensor has buggered up? or pherhaps the wiring from the sensor is heavily corroded *it was left outside in the rain unloved for 2 years and there were more spiders under the tank than a ... spider...nest... holding.. thingy. *shudder*
Anyways, i'll extend the wiring loom so that i can use it, the old Rid would light up but nothing else would work. Incidentally, if anyone would like it .. for free no less... to rob it for components or even just have a go at fixing it to re-use email me at higgs_paul@hotmail.com
cheers
