There's a nice little guide to some suggested routes in Portugal, along with the downloadable GPS routes. If anyone is thinking of going anytime soon, it may be worth a look.

Been reading through as riding to Faro in July.... Via Cherbourg........

It's going to be awesome.....(and hot)... Will be limiting tolls/motorways and looking to hook up some Ride Spanish/Portugese routes....

I have 4 days each way.. 1200 miles.. 300 per day... Should have time to Suss out some nice places...

What dates do you intend to be in Portugal? A small group of us will be doing the Ride tour or something similar in July.

We are working on dates outbound on Friday 15th return on Sunday 23rd which are unlikely to change due to lack of availability of alternative crossings with Brittany Ferries on the Santander crossing, which is a shame :blast

Shame that.... have a great trip !!

We toured Spain & Portugal last summer & bumped into the Ride guys a few times, even staying in the same hotel as them.
The roads really are great, 1st week of June & not a spot of rain.

The highest point of Portugal,

We used these guys as a self guided tour http://www.globalmotorcycletours.co.uk/northern_spain_portugal.html

Hello Wapping any chance you can send me the gpx files as they wont download from the Ride site or if you know what i am doing wrong please let me know

Thanks Shorty

I cannot even start to guess what you might be doing incorrectly.

To make it easier, tell us please, stage by stage what you are doing to download the Portuguese routes from the RiDE website and not least what you are trying to download them into. For instance:

PC or Mac?

BaseCamp, Mapsource, something else?

Richard

Thanks for the reply Richard

Trying to down load from the http://www.ride.co.uk/routes-1/tour-2016 web site

Ride tour of Portugal day 1 "download GPX file link

On to a windows 10 pc then open with either Basecamp or Mapsource

All i get is the link opening in the address bar but a blank screen and no download

Thanks Shorty

I've tried to download the .gpx files using Firefox (blank Screen) and IE (404) on my PC and on the Ipad with no success. It does say in the text above that some people have had trouble with this and that they can send them by email if you ask.

OK, I don't have a PC, only a Mac.

I have a hospital appointment looming but I'll see if I can download it and then forward it on to you. I'll need your email address, please.

As an alternative, there is a very large file called 'All the routes you'll ever need' or something like that, here on UKGSer it will be in there, almost certainly.

Here it is: http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showth...utes-(OK-some-missing)-and-most-of-the-passes

It's a big file, so be very patient downloading and opening it. Some computers might crash running it. Best advice is to find the route(s) you want, copy them into a new file and go from there. You can't break it.
