Ride Report 2150 miles around Europe 5th June 2009

Great report...esp the snow parts!

Curious as to why the hiker punched your friend in the arm, but I think you were wise to just keep moving. From living here it seems to be a Swiss trait to try to tell people what to do. Where I come from that's the job of the police and you mind your own bloody business or else you risk physical confrontations. In Canada it's a baseball bat...in the US who knows!

When driving through Germany, despite the theoretical spead appeal of autobahns, I avoid them like the plague. Only use them late at night or early in the morning. What you want are called 'schnellstrasse' which is like a two lane mini-autobahn with much less traffic, or even better a 'landstrasse'. The speed limit is still 100 km/h on these and much less stressful.

PS: I keep double XL rubber kitchen washing up gloves (pull over the leather gloves) rolled up in my tank bag...since you seem to attract rain and snow...

Yes the Bandit is a 2007 1250, can't really say how it compared really, all I know is Jamie was always complaining of sore butt and that everyone we saw on the trip looked at my bike, commented on various aspects of it, looked at Jamie's and walked off. Jamie is even considering a BMW because of that trip.
