Ride routes for big trailies?

I am out of contract right now so wonder if anyone has some good routes ( off road, that is ) in Berkshire, Surrey or Hampshire I can ride alone with a large S-10 , please?

Might as well use my unemployment situation to good use !

There's plenty in Surrey & Hants you can do too, done a lot on a GS1200, use land ranger 144 & 145 but there are some you'd be better off not tackling he and there, especially alone.
 
Thanks. Just want hard packed routes, if at all possible. And avoiding fjords of the watery type too.
 
You probably know this already but just in case if your running a Yamaha alloy Sumpguard. It doesn't take much of a rock hit for the guard or it mounts to move /bend and shear off the rear mount into the sump cover leaving a hole for the oil to fall out. Even a Rock flipped up from the front wheel could ruin what appears to be an easy trail.

ah.. bugger... I did wonder how good it would be... guess that's summit else to add to the shopping list ..

There is also an issue with aftermarket Bash Plates that mount to the "knob" that hangs down from the sump, a hard whack (like trying to balance 1/3rd of a ton of bike / rider on the Bash plate) can cause the sump to break.

Even gaurds that do not mount here can bend up and whack this lower point, some folk actually cut this shorter, but beware above the hole in it the thing is hollow so if you want to cut it flush you need to remove the pan and then weld over where you cut it off.

There are some extremely tough plates out there for those planning on taking on extreme terrain, check out the bike here with the worlds largest bash plate

MCN has a video on youtube that shows how very easily the sump can be completely knackered to the point where the bike wet itself all over the road, so obviously they then removed it from the group test... I cant find the vid right now but i willl keep looking and if i find it i will linky it on here...

Oh by the way this sump damage occured BEFORE they even had a chance to take it properly off road.
 
Ignore all the media bumf guys - its all hot air ! I have excellent SW-Motech plates and bars and more than capable for off road use. Sorry, don't agree with the media and I fortunately have ridden the GS, GSA and S-10 in some really harsh conditions and its poorly underrated just because of this type of reporting !

I wonder perhaps if the bike might have been a Friday bike, or maybe they faked a video which is publicly viewable then??? maybe Yamaha refused to pay for something that the journos wanted......found the video and it all happens at 4 mins 16 seconds. Didnt think I was imagining things...

I know on one MCN test they broke a sump, but the bike had no sump guard and they were doing jumps on it - hardly normal use.
 
I was looking at Nick Sander's S10 on Sat and he has the Yam alloy bash plate, so if its good enough for him then its good enough for me.
I also spent a good few hours tearing around Waters Arena yesterday (Wales) and as that terain is all I plan on doing I'll stick with my Yam alloy bash plate.
