RIDGEWAY ON A GS? come on

Preperation...
Should I make changes to the bike,
I pressume...
1. remove top box.
2. remove foot rest rubbers.
3. wind pre load up to max on both ends.. anything else?

Bike preparation:
I'll drop my tyre pressures a bit for better grip on the dirt. You could safely go down to minimum 22 psi front, 24 rear. It's not a rocky route so no risk of denting your rims at the slow speeds we'll be bimbling along at :D
I wouldn't over-do the suspension pre-load, if it makes it difficult to reach the ground. You'll need to 'paddle' with your feet down occasionally, so you don't want to be teetering along on tippy toes.;)

hi,there are a few muddy bit's 20-30mts but nothing to worry about, last time i did it my rear tourance had done 8k,i'm not going to mess with any setting's or pressure just take out footrest rubber's and rember NOT to fill up(too heavy),enough for 80-100 mile's will be plenty, there are places on the way just off the ridgeway if needed.this time tyre's are not a problem but next time i know some great single track stuff that i've done on my ktm that i think is doable on a GS but i'll have to do a recce? first.....annyone want to join the PATHFINDERS......:D ...loz

Just like to say had a great time on the ridgeway at the weekend, right up to the time I dropped her in a rut :-( luckily no damage to myself, and at least the bike is rideable. I'm glad I put those engine bars on they saved the engine, shame I didn't fit the Tank bars.

41L Tank

Can the dude who joined us this day with the 41L tank that he had on his Adventurer please pm me. I would like to know where I can get one of those?

None of us had a 41 ltr tank?

LoungeLizard & Jerry were on Adventures with stock 30ltr tanks, Ian was on an Adventure fitted with a plastic 1100 tank & you & me both had stock 1150 22ltr tanks.

You can fit the 30ltr tank straight obn to your bike & retain the standard dual seats. You can use your internal tank parts in the bigger tank but your fuel guage will not be accurate. There is also a crossover fuel pipe from left to right that you'll need - make sure it's fitted with a quick disconnect though.

41 L Tank

Hi Steve

Thanks, I could not remember if that plastic tank was that big. Obviously not.....

Do you know where I can get one of those 30 L plastic tanks?

I am going home soon for a month and will be back in October, hope to see you guys again soon for some bush whacking.

Cheers

Apart from the 30ltr Adventure tank, there are a couple of options:

Touratech 41ltr tank - very ££££££££££££££££££££

HPN probably do something similar - probably very£££££££££££

Kaoko - South African firm do a smart looking 36ltr tank, look here: http://www.kaoko.com/fuel_tank.html

Kaoko is probably the easiest option given the fact that you're South African - what's the exchange rate with the SA Rand like at the moment - could work out cheap if you can avoid VAT & Duty etc?
