Took these photos of a a guy leaving val d isere in france where the world ski championships were held , total respect for the guy as it was -15 and the village roads were lethal black ice with a dusting of light snow on top, the local mayor thought it would be more picturesque if it looked white. for the rider it must have been a nightmare ,he would have had at least 4 miles like this before 12 miles down the mountain pass, all i can say is TOP MAN.

It looks like Timolga in that suit and on his favourite steed, Tom always travels light:augie

Brave, highly skilled or just stupid?

He could do with those tyres that use in ice speedway with the nails sticking out of them. Or did I just make that up?

Touratech or someone was selling snow chains for bikes, but personally if i think I need snow chains its time to take the car instead.

His BUMW dealer really saw him coming, didn't they! :D

Full kit, inc BUMW dry bag, twat suit, BUMW lid.......I'd lay money they're BUMW gloves, boots and GPS

I bet he's got phase change underwear on as well :eek

Fanum

I do believe you missed the tank bag (Im sure I can see the corner of one) .... and bet its BWM as well.

Someones got FAR too much money, can I have some plse?

Poor Riding Technique?

According to most schools of riding, it is considered poor form to ride with your feet dragging or off the pegs.:rob:rolleyes:

And if (by dragging his feet) he can really stop a fully loaded Adventure from falling, once it starts to go, he's gotta have muscles in his sh1t!:cool:

Twat suit, well yes, but the dry bag is actually a rather decent bit of kit, miles better than my so-called sailing dry bag, as it actually keeps the contents dry, amazingly. But not cheap new I suspect, got mine s/hand.

Some BMW kit is fine, but as with all things, a little moderation is good.

He didn't stop be me on his way there either. No handlebar muffs :D

Val.

ha ha ha ha

Look at all you armchair travellers!!!

At least he is there, riding!

It seems poor form to have a go at his riding kit when he's out there riding on snow and ice and not in his car like a lot of 'weekend warriors' would be.
He'd probably not be happy at having his full number plate on line either

Good post

That guy deserves a medal for riding in those conditions, who cares about his kit

Yes, he is wearing BMW boots - you can see the flash on the heel. Mock all you like and get down to Lidl for your cheap crap if that's what you like. Top marks to the rider for using all the gear he has and not just posing with it :thumb

I agree , this guy gets my full respect. I've ridden down my road where I live when it was snowing and the snow had laid, and I was scared of the slightest tilt I felt on the bike. I know you have to have confident in your tyre's and believe they will stick, I was not that confident I can tell you.

dxtans

He could have done with a couple of small mods to the bike :D
