Riding through Spain and the law

This was in the Picos. Correct no signal. We got on the bikes and rode until he found one. No refund on the fuel used...
Picos? A group of us been the last 4 years never seen the police outside the towns never in the park/mountains
What happened and where??

Make sure that you have UK VED on your steed. The Spanish Old Bill check, just as you can, the on-line DVLA register.

Same for MoT.

just paid a speeding fine in Spain 60 euros for 117 kph in a 100 . I though with Brexit you could rag it everywhere

Unlucky. All the B thing means is that the UK is not *required* to hand over your details in a reciprocal arrangement.

There is nothing to stop the UK Government entering a commercial arrangement with other organisations whether they are national governments, regional governments or private operators of toll roads. DVLA will have had a small fee for grassing you up to the Spanish.

This is not a new thing with the current government. DVLA has been making cash from this side hustle for many years.

Getting stopped by Spanish Police DOES HAPPEN!

We were stopped within 2 hours of leaving the ferry at Santander, just in the Picos area (you can see Potes is signed behind us).
They checked the bikes, looked for UK stickers and checked our paperwork.
No request was made for hi-viz or bulb kits (I'm all LED anyway).
Two of our group of 4 were breathalyzed (negative of course) - I guess they thought we'd had a boozy night on the ferry?
They started the conversation really formally, but after a few mins when they realised we passed the "attitude test", they got all friendly and chatty :) and allowed us to take the pics etc

Interesting point

I wonder if it is possible to opt out of them selling my data or what exactly the legalities of selling it are

It would be nice to be able to get away with it even though I fully accept it is entirely my fault if I speed and get caught

I have had a few speeding fines from Spain the highest of which was 200 euros and of course I paid as I want to go back each year

Pretty much our experience....they'd spotted us sat outside a small cafe in a town as they rode past. We were all on coca-cola. Stopped about 3 miles out of town. I'd clocked them half a mile ahead so mentioned them to the other 3 on the intercoms...none of us were breathalysed tho...machines out, tubes at the ready "Drink?"....Yes, coca cola.....grunt...."breathe please"....grunt..."All coca cola?"...Yup..."...on your way."

Well seems our group has been lucky, maybe it will run out this October

Bulds and viz I think was only for France.
I used the ferry only once, but noticed that they do roam the area to keep an eye, so there is a slightly higher chance to be spot checked when leaving the port.
Pretty standard.

The Guardia Civil were most helpful with my brother who developed cramp and had to leave the carriageway and dump his bike on it`s side, they saw what happened, pulled up to check he was OK, he wasn`t, he was too hot and dehydrated, they put him in the A/C car and his phone in the A/C glove box to get it working again, gave him water and were genuinely very good.

They did not ask for any documentation, didn`t check his bike....Just really good guys and spent an hour with him until he was all good to go again.

N621 south of Potes. Road works, a long queue of traffic, I overtake and cross the solid white line to slowly move to the front where two bike police where watching. Treated like an arch criminal initially, but the ice started to melt when my corruption of Spanish started to amuse them!

Ah the road works ! Mm we always try to filter to the front as well

I had a similar situation years ago. Temporary lights at the entrance to a tunnel caused a long tailback so I filtered to the front. Two bike officers were next to the lights who spotted my progress, one blew his whistle and directed me to the side of the road and made me wait; once the queue had gone into the tunnel they waved me on.

In the middle of the Los Monegros desert area near Zaragossa in July there was traffic control at the exit of the huge pop festival there manned by two bike cops, Guardia Civil, who sensibly ride in shirt sleeves in summer. Not me though as I was in full clobber. So after a little wait and guessing that with bugger all traffic on the main road they'd give the hippies priority for a long time I just made a prayer sign 🙏 and they stopped the who gig to let me go :)

I'd be interested in what enforcement action they'd take for you NOT having VED in the UK. Sounds like bollocks tbh...

My bud had his UK reg car impounded by the Spanish Bill until he'd got it sorted. And he had to pay a Spanish fine...

seems to be a thing now
