Hi everyone

Three of us are Morocco bound in about10 days, and are contemplating taking the route Chefchaoun - Ketam to Fes. I know thatin the past others have recommended avoiding this section and just wondered if anyone had recent experience/advice to offer?

Thanks

Mike

I did that route 3 years ago. Ketama felt very intimidating but when you actually stopped for fuel etc the people were quite friendly. You aren't going to get murdered or anything so if you fancy it just go :thumb

.............and tell us all about it if you return :D

I've been through Ketama twice encountering no real problems other than hassle from drug sellers.
As a first trip and riding through the area on the way south you may well find it intimidating so would suggest visiting the area on the way back when you've found your feet.

+1

It's a very winding road and the surface isn't too good, so progress can be slow. I met up last weekend with Noel (MostlyHarmless) from Horizons Unlimited website who was riding to Fez via Ketama, but the light was fading and he ended up staying overnight in Ketama.

So long as you don't do anything stupid you'll be OK but it's not a welcoming area. The Riffians are a sullen group of people and keep their women well out of sight.
