I was out and about on my bike doing some green laning on my bike. I dropped the bike after getting stuck in deep mud and thought nothing of it. Ahyhow on the way home I saw smoke/stream? from the front brake and stopped. lucky i did as the front brake had completly locked up. Gave it 15 minutes to cool down and was okay, at home found the hand guard was pressing slightly on front brake level. I assume this is common enough after a drop.

It seems okay now,but i was wondering if i need to get the brakes/brake pads checked out, pads replaced?

Handguards partially operating both clutch and brake levers is reported often - though if the brake was on hard enough to to smoke the pads I am surprised you didn't notice the apparent lack of power.

Whatever - Three things to check:-

1) Did your brake fluid boil - this would be demonstrated at the time by a lack of braking - it's unlikely, unless you did many many miles with the brake on.
if it boiled you may need a bleed or even a fluid change. Do the brakes feel spongey now?
2) The pads may be glazed/burnt - again unlikely unless - as above.
3) The discs may have warped with the heat - again unlikely unless - as above- you know they are warped when you feel a pulsing of the lever as you apply the brake, and if so then that's new discs.

I think you will find that everything is allright
