Hi guys bit of advice needed,my 1150GSA is fitted with risers they are an inch raised and 5/8 setback, the guy who owned it previous was shorter than my 5'11 so what id like to know as iv never ridden a gs with normal height bars is,should i leave them as they are or would i benefit from putting them back to standard. many thanks

Im 6'4 and preferred mine with risers, but its an individual thing. It only takes 10 minutes to take them off, so try it without and see :nenau

Too many variables to say whether you'll find it better with or without the risers.

Depends on your height, build, reach etc.

suck it and see

thanx guys il just have to try it and see,do those riser clamps have a torque setting or do you just do em as tight as you can?

Check th emanual but if my dogy memory serves me right I think the M8 barclamp bolts were torqued to 25nm BUT as I said check your maual or maybe some decent soul has a clymer with the vales near to hand would post it 4 u :aidan

"AS tight as you can!" Can have disastrous implications! threads stripped out of alloy especially on the old airheads!

I'm 5'11 and I have up and back risers (from Nippy Norman if I remember correctly).

I've had back problems for years and with the up and back risers on my GS I've found that my back problems are getting less and less - definitely more comfy with the risers for me.

I find the risers allow me to sit bolt upright, which is way better for your back.

But it's a personal choice - try both.
