Road King, getting at the battery

Will do! :D

Yes you can, but mine will have routes and waypoints set up on it, plus, I'm a bit tight so would resent renting a satnav as well as the bike when I have two satnavs at home :D

We're very well insured, well, I though we were... $17000  I hope you got personal services with that!

Make sure it covers riding motor sickles.......:D

If you can hire satnavs from the hire people they must have power supply and mounting arrangements on the bikes for them. Why don't you ask them?
I did, thinking a good number of the bike would be fitted with mounts but it seems not so, no guarantee at all unless you rent :(
And make that three satnavs at home, I forgot the Tomtom! :D

It does thanks, up to 1800cc (thread). But its very important to read the fine print, some policy's say they cover motorcycles but the fine print then says 'up to 125cc'

Cheers :thumb2

Croc clips

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Croc clips may short to the frame and woof! Instant hot pants.

Proper solution is less than £15.

The RK has the Acc switch on the lower left of the fairing controlling a 4 pin Deutsch plug (cannot find plug location on web - may be down in front of battery or in a side panel).
See here - scroll all the way down to after "Cigarette lighter" in this link

Harley does a plug to cigarette socket lead that fits this socket -

Simples!

PS If you have to bodge, use LOTS of insulating tape.

Well if you want to get picky

Did I say they would come off? They can can still be attached but move and touch the frame - the battery terminals are close enough to the frame. Hence the comment "use tape"

I was just trying to be helpful and the big man was nasty to me :tears

Plunging in would be great, if there's a socket and if it's a live socket. Think I'll send eagle rider a mail and ask them, cheers for that

The last Glide I rented from Eaglerider had all the wiring there for the SatNav but no mount :thumb
hmmm, can you choose the bike you like the look of or are they allocated?

They were allocated, but all the glides lined up were exactly the same except for the scars where fuckwits had dropped them :toungincheek

They all had the wiring for the satnav and marks on the handlebars where the mount was bolted on/off :thumb

Cheers Mutley,

May well take both the Zumo and the Montana as there's a good chance the Montana will run all day on it battery with the display turned all the way down, could even pop some AA cells in to keep it going till we get at the bikes battery

Bloody exciting isn't it lol :D :thumb2

Hi there Mutley (or font of all wisdom as we should perhaps call you?)

when you say "wiring for the satnavs" do you mean something like a cigarette lighter socket? Or something more specialised?

Cheers,

G
