Road roar from front Metzeler

Chinese isn't automatically a bad thing. As someone has already pointed out Pirelli is now owned by a Chinese company which itself is owned by the Chinese government.

Maxxis tyres are 100% Chinese. I found the SuperMax excellent in both grip and tread life.

Exactly, I bought a pair of Pirelli diablos for my TLS before I went to Germany in May on it, got them from "busters" the front was made in Germany and the rear was made in China, didn't give it a second thought about fitting them, they both behaved impeccably for the whole 2000 miles trip, no chicken strips either:D

Most defintely. When they arrived I immediately checked date of manufacture, but not the country of origin as I was not aware of any potential concern.

Seriously- you heaved a sigh of relief????:blast

Don't know how you get through the day........

Only just got 4k out of my current front Tourence, back fitted at same time still good for a couple of K, due to this thread just checked both made in China, front looks like it's a triangle both side walls pretty much straight, not rounded. Never had a front go before the rear. Last set of Tourence's did 7.5k. Can't live with that. Trying PR4's on Saurday

I thought it was my wheel bearings the noise over 30 is concerning really noticeable when free wheeling, have taken them off and stuck spare wheels on.

By way of an update for anyone who might be vaguely interested: I got the replacement Tourance fitted yesterday and although also made in China, is a huge improvement over the first one.

So it's not every Chinese tyre that is a problem.

It's a lottery as to whether of not you get a good one and a lottery is just not good enough.

Metzeler (Pirelli) seem to have a problem on their hands.......... I wonder how many they have replaced to date?

As a footnote: The Great God of Karma reared his ugly head on the ride home from getting the free replacement fitted - I got a bloody puncture in the back tyre!

Now the dilemma is: What do I replace the (almost worn-out) back tyre with, to match the new front Tourance?

Another Tourance? - It's all bloody annoying !

Safety Seal puncture repair and carry on old boy !! :rob
use it up unless it handles like sh1t:nenau

then again I don't ride that hard and don't suppose I'l ever reach anywhere near the limits of the bike or tyre !!:blast

and your'e right - Somerset ayr to Ayr would be a bl00dy long commute !!
