I would be interested to hear the views from anyone that has tried their GS with dedicated road tyres fitted to the standard wheels such as the long term test bike Ride magazine had fitted with pilot road tyres.

Tyres

Had BT020's on me 1150GS back lasted about 5000mls not a bad ride, but went back to Tourance for better mileage and just as good grip.

Just done 6000 miles on Pilot Raods.

They are, IMHO, crap in the wet.

The bike ha felt like it has a hinge in the middle from Day 1.

Wet roundabouts are an exercise in fear control.

I should have gone with my own experience and opted for 020s.

Next month, I'll be going back to Dunlop 607s, probably. Softer than a Tourance, but much better grip.

020's are fine, but soon changed to Anakee's then Tourance as wanted something to last a bit longer, but as said before no real change in grip, wet or dry, guess the GS is just so well planted it don't matter what rubber is on it.. :thumb

I had thought about changing to road tyres but really can't see the point as the Tourance are excellant and last well :thumb

Me too. BT020 for about a year and managed to eak 7500 outof them.. went back to Tourances as the mileage was about the same but the Tourances were much cheaper... Grip? BT020 better overall but not enough improvement on road to make gravel tracks a nightmare...

I am going to be trying some Conti Roadattacks as soon as they are available, which should be just in time for me to take them to the Nurburgring in July. I've had Conti's on sportsbikes in the past and been well pleased with them... I'll let you know!!

I have used 020's for the last 10,000miles, I'm quite an aggressive rider and find they grip better than the tourances fitted previously, although I think the tourance is pretty good considering it's a bit of a compromise tyre. The wet weather grip of the 020's is pretty good too.

Is that a couple of sets Fatal?

I quite fancy the bridgestones but like the mileage on the tourance.

Ive got 8k on my tourance and theres still meat left but will be changing them next week. The roads all around me are covered with clay mud and when the tyres are low you really get "movement" which isnt good for the heart.
If I was on A roads im sure they would do another couple of thousand

Two rears (approx 6.5k for the rear) and one front, I found the tourance gave a bit more mileage but I prefer the extra grip of a road biased tyre, I don't use my GS off tarmac, got a Yamaha Serow for my greenlaning. Someone else suggested Conti Road Attacks, they may be worth consideration, I've heard good reports about them. I use Conti Sport Attacks on my Aprilia Tuono factory, they are excellent.
