Roadlok on an R1300GS

As long as it’s made after the date I put in a previous post it’ll fit(BMW version obviously).

I’ve just moved our two over. One from my 1250GS and one from the wife’s 1250RS. Both now on our 1300GSs.

I've just installed the specific model for the R1300GS, fits perfectly which would suggest they need to be exact for each model. Can't fault the quality though.
Hi - just had mine delivered.

The kit (I ordered the one for the 1300 GS) comes with a bag of spacers and a couple of longer bolts. I understand from an easier post that it's the longest (24.2mm) spacers that I need between the caliper and the Roadlok. I then need to replace the original caliper bolts with the longer ones supplied...

Which leads me to my question. There is a pair of small spacers in the bag with the longer bolts. Did you end up needing those (between the Roadlok and the new bolt heads, I assume)? The video from The Stammering Bike (great video!) looks like these small spacers weren't used, but I don;t know how long his bolts were. Any chance you (or any others on here who have fitted one to a 1300) could let me know your experience? Thanks!

Hey thanks for the compliment about my video!

Happy to measure the spacers and bolts if you like?

That’s exactly where they go, both on the GS and the RS. I moved my wife’s over from her RS to her GS - same bolts, spacers and washers on both. Same when I moved mine from my 1250GS to my 1300GS.

I wouldn't want you to have to remove a bolt to measure it. I've only been sent one length of bolt, so happy to assume (!) that it's right.

It is a great video - really useful.

Thank you - that's really helpful. I do wonder, though, why The Stammering Biker's doesn't seem to have the spacers under the bolt heads. Did you try the bolts without these spacers? I assume the bolts are too long without them.

No worries, and thank you!

When you put the bolt through the Roadlok, then the spacer, the amount of bolt left should roughly match the original if you line up the head of the original bolt to the end of the spacer, excluding the head obviously.

I do have spacers?

The spacer sits between the Roadlok and the caliper to sit the Roadlok up high enough to not foul the caliper.

That's a useful tip any extra would then be taken up by another spacer below the bolt head, I guess.

I only needed the one spacer (the largest), didn't need anything under the bolt head, just between the Roadlok body and the caliper.

Perfect - I'll try that first. If that doesn't work, I'll use the small spacer under the bolt head as daesimps had to.

No worries! The main safety thing they mention is you need to have at least the same number of threads engaging into the fork leg when bolting it back up. Good luck!

All fitted. Having measured the amount of thread to be engaged, the bolts on their own seemed just right, so I left out any spacer between the bolt heads and the Roadlok. The 24.2mm spacers between the caliper and the Roadlok were the right ones.

Seems to work really well, but time will tell how well it survives in the elements.
