Well I thought I'd keep you all abreast of what Robbie C is upto on his mini adventure.

I'm getting text messages from him daily so thought it might be a good idea to post them here:-

17.04.08 - left Hereford to Dover via Oxford to see Possu and pick up some supplies for the trip.

18.04.08 - early ferry to Calais, sat nav had a fit in France and called, so Ems could find out how to soft reset it so they didnt have to rely on maps, that was sorted, they stayed in Remes that evening.

19.04.08 - We are in Switzerland, just south east of Zurich, long day, 45 quid each 4 a room but that includes breakfast and secure parking. Bolzano tomorrow.

20.04.08 - We are in Italy, Idolo south of Stelvio pass. Had to detour as Fluelia pass is shut. Stelvio shut. Heading for Bolzano in the morning and on towards slovenia.

21.04.08 - Started with a blizzard and went down hill from there. Didnt do the Alps or Dolomites. now in Postoinja - had a brief chat with him basically snow pushed them back onto the lower ground and had to ride on motorway for most part of the day in very wet weather had to follow car tail lights to see where going.

Will post again in a few days.

For those of you not on the adventure rider site I will keep posting here, but BSR is going a better job than I am (hes got pictures of maps and everythin').

22.04.08 - Wet, Wet, Wet - we went to postojnia caves and castle. Now in Novi Vinodolski, Croatia. The other two are still at the top of Austria.

23.04.08 - In split, weather good, roads great.

24.04.08 - actually spoke to Rob today (as it is my birthday, surprised he actually remembered). Spending the day in Split with a local GSer who is giving them a guided tour as the city is 2000 years old, and apparently people are still living there!!? Louie and Garry are in Italy. Weather really good hot and clear skies.

25.04.08 - Bosnia

25.04.08 - Split to Polce to Mostar to Gacko to Trebinje. Really good days riding. Bosnia away from the tourist areas. Very Russian.

26.04.08 - We are in the middle of the shit hole that is Albania. The roads are awful but ok on the GS. Very poor country. We are at Burrel just north of Tirane. Good mountain view. Also spoke to him the hotel was Ok and run by an Italian so food quality was good, slight problem with the water works and the whole hotel smelled strongly of Bitumen. He explained that it was literally abject poverty all around them, but there were lots of cute fluffy puppies.

He was amazed at the average size of the population, women averaged about 5 feet 9 and the blokes were averaging 6 feet 4 and wouldnt have weighed under 15 stone, which dwarfed the two of them.

27.04.08 - Burrel to Bulqize to Macedonia border. South to Trpejca then west through the national part then on to Bitola where we are staying in a 10 euro a night room which is pretty good. Macedonia 10 miles from Greece. check out www.partypilgrims.com, met him today with a german girl called Sabine. had dinner with them.

28.04.08 - Out of Macedonia into Greece. Now at Kavala east end of the country. Did a load of tracks today but they are not very interesting. Spoke to Rob again today, hes not doing too well due to a chest infection which is getting him down, which is pretty bad news as he has shot lungs as it is hopefully will have a rest day tomorrow and the warmer weather will improve his spirits.

29.04.08 - On the Turkish border. Alexandroupolis or something like that. Rode the coast road. A lot of tracks pretending to be roads. Proper road signs but dirt and rock. Turkey tomorrow. I gave him a bollocking as it was supposed to be a rest day, and he replied 140 miles is a day off!

Progress report of the other 2

We have had better luck with the weather in the Dolimites and rode a a fair few of the passes that were open :thumb
