Why don't they blast them then?

Ask how they do wheels as they're all mag alloy now. Failing that, get a tin of paint and do them your self.

I'm getting some stuff powder coated next week, so I'll ask if I remember

TTBOMK the vast majority are aluminium alloy, not magnesium these days
