Rocker gear removal

Hi,
Yet another question! I'm going to take my cylinder head off tomorrow. My question is this: Can I take the rocker gear off after I take the cylinder head off, or does it need to come off first? As usual, the answers on here will be far more understandable than Mr Haynes...

I took my heads off bit by bit...Rocker assembly that is. Having said that I put them back on with the rocker assembly completely assembled (give or take a bit ). Mr Haynes explains both procedures. I found it easy the way I done it...but its not necessarily the best, easiest, right way! Does that make sense

Thanks for the replies. Can I assume that there are no top tips and it's as straight forward as just unbolting them (and remembering what goes where!)
