hi folks i got a 1150 rockster ,its got a bit of lateral movement in the rear bearing,i have had a good look how to change it ,not to bad of a job.
anyway who would i buy the bearing off ,i know the usual ,bmw, motorworks etc ,but is there any bearing specialists that do a top quallity one at a good price
also any tips on doing the bearing ,i do have a heat gun and a three legged pulled.
cheers in advance

Previous posts indicate that BMW come out cheapest for a quality bearing

Are you sure that the problem is in the big bearing and not the paralever bearings?.
Similar symptons.Get someone to hold the rear brake on (clamps the rear wheel to the bevel drive) and check for any play.
If yes,it's the paralever bearings,if no then probably the big bearing.
The bearing from a BWM dealer is about £50-60 and if it hasn't been off before it's FT.
How many miles has the bike done and what comes out of the bevel drive when you drain the oil-any shiny bits?.

well colban ,today i have took my final drive off ,really just to regrease the splines, anyway whilst on i repalced the fluid in the drive and re torqued the paralever bearingings ,and yes your right there is no movment now ,so it must have been the paralever bearings .
i also have a very tiny amount of fluid coming out off the boot ,so maybe i have a imput shaft seal on the way out .
the bike has done 23000 miles ,i am in a month or two just going to get mikeyboy from here just to rebuild the complete final drive .

Speak soon - by the way mine has seeped oil out of the big rubber gaiter forever (just a little misting), some say its normal and a lot of people have it.

yes i know about the everlasting weeping seals ,going to keep an eye on it see how it goes ,but i dont like leaks ,reminds me of old british bikes. ha ha
